Fever. Black. New.
1. They tell me fevers are a natural and healthy response, but they still scare me! Sigh...baby girl.
2. One of my customer's ear holes turned black from my Sterling Silver earwire. Sadly, some people's chemistry is prone to discoloration (like those who turn green when they wear copper). It still made me feel awful. I think I might just stick to using oxidized sterling from now on...

The relevant excerpt on Sterling Silver:
Sterling silver is 7.5 percent copper, but the most common stains from sterling silver jewelry are black, and occur when the metal tarnishes (darkens due to a reaction with gases in the air). Some sterling pieces are coated with products that help keep them from tarnishing, but the coatings will wear off in time.
Ways to Eliminate Staining
* Switch to 18 Karat gold, a more pure metal.
* Platinum is expensive, but rarely reacts with our skin.
* Ask your jeweler if the piece can be coated with a new layer of metal or a clear protective film along edges that touch your skin.
* Coat the jewelry with clear nail polish where it touches your skin.
* Choose stainless steel jewelry when possible, especially when buying body jewelry components.
* Titanium is another metal choice, for its non-staining qualities and for people with metal allergies.
* Watch for jewelry labeled hypo-allergenic. It's formulated for people with hightened sensititivies to metals.
* Keep your skin dry when wearing jewelry.
* Wear offending pieces for only a short time.
* Keep your jewelry clean and tarnish-free.
The last three - emphasis added by me- will likely do the trick for Sterling Silver.
And here are a few more tips for all your Sterling Silver jewelry:
a. Remove your jewelry before bathing and sleeping.
b. Remove jewelry during periods of strenuous activities, exercise, swimming (pools or ocean), work, washing dishes, household chores, etc.
c. If possible, store jewelry in an airtight zip-lock bag when not wearing. This prevents tarnishing.
d. Avoid contact with all chemicals -- perfumes, hair sprays, dyes, etc.
3) And finally...new work! Oxidized Sterling & Brass! Yah!

It's Time for a Birthday Party!
Today was my daughter's birthday party. We had it at a sweet little art studio in Berkeley and invited all her friends. It was so much fun and I'm just totally overwhelmed with the awesome community we have built here in the Bay Area.
I will leave you with this photo for now. Just the two of us...

Oh Bugger!
Not sure if it is the permanently gloomy skies and/or my relative lack of knowledge of photography, but I cannot get the type of pics I need lately. Grrr. Head. Wall. Repeat.

Sick Children, New Earwire
They should really let you refund your first month of pre-school. By the time your kid has caught every single strain of whatever, she spends all of 5 minutes there.
New adventures in earwire. :D
Flatiron (I cannot get over how gorgeous these beads are. I really should make a little something for myself before I run out!)
Forbidden Fruit, Silver Remix
Listing soon.

New Camera, New Work
Got some work photographed, finally. The Panasonic Lumix is an inferior camera. No doubt. That being said, I am going to attempt to make it work. I hope it is just a case of figuring out how to make it do what I need it to do. I'm up for the challenge (now that baby K is in pre-school 3x a week) and I have no interest in paying that 15% restocking fee if I return it.
Here we go.

Whoa. 34. Really?
34 just isn't a sexy age. I was totally okay saying and being 33, but 34 is just no good. NO GOOD. So what the heck am I going to do about this? Well, since I'm 34 today, I guess I better get used to saying it all this year because 35 is, if possible, an even less sexy age. On a positive note, 36 doesn't sound so bad. Happy Birthday to me :)
And a Fields of Honey update since J & K are both asleep and I have a few moments to myself. After one too many beatings from my toddler, my Digital Elph finally stopped working on Saturday night. I really loved the little guy too. Sigh. Anyway, this time around I decided to go with the Panasonic Lumix because I could get it *plus* a two year insurance plan for the price of a new Digital Elph. Living with my girl means you get the insurance (this is one of those "no questions asked" policies). It made the decision easier.
I have BIG PLANS for Thursday and Friday!! And if all goes as planned, be listing new work starting this weekend. Yay!
Here's a pic I took of the kid after lunch today with the new camera.
